Dancers can be moved up to a different level at the discretion of the instructor.
This class is the first level of formal ballet training offered at the studio combined with the creative style of lyrical. Students are introduced to the theory and technique of classical ballet. The skills cultivated are integral in the development of proper body alignment, which is foundational for progress in all other dance styles. . This class trains dancers to use their technical skills to connect movement with meaning to tell a story.
In this class, students begin to examine Jazz as a unique dance style and develop beginning technique and performance skills.
Jazz class will build upon isolations, leaps, and turns using variations across the floor as well as center combinations. Dancers will begin to develop artistry in the style of Jazz as well as gain self-confidence.
This class explores the various styles of tap dance while developing technique, rhythm, and speed. Each tap class will begin with a warm-up that will also strengthen dancers’ feet, ankles, and shins. Following the warm-up will be across the floor exercises which will get each dancer moving in order to build his or her technical level.
This class delves into the techniques and styles of Hip Hop while building the strength needed for floor skills. Emphasis is placed on individual expression through freestyle dance, encouraging dancers to develop their unique style. Advanced Ballet students are trained in the theory and technique of classical ballet and have the option to prepare for work on Pointe. Dancers learn to unite technique with artistry while increasing body awareness.
Advanced Jazz students will focus heavily on turn, jumps, leaps, and jazz transitions as well as choreography retention skills. Dancers will learn different styles of Jazz within this class.
Concurrent enrollment in Advanced Ballet is encouraged.
Advanced Tap explores the various styles of tap dance while developing advanced technique, rhythm, and speed. Dancer’s will be challenged through different pieces of choreography to improve assimilation as well as develop special trick steps such as wings, pull-packs, and over-the-tops.
Advanced Ballet students who are interested in dancing on Pointe can do so at the invitation of the instructor. A dancer's readiness for Pointe is dependent upon the work ethic and motivation of the individual student, as well as the development of the dancer’s body.
