The DIVA program was created to provide an educational opportunity for intermediate and advanced students who are interested in learning about the art of dance instruction. The program offers both practical training in the classroom as well as training on the theory behind dance instruction.
- Must be at least 10 years old.
- Must complete the DIVA Training Session.
- Must be enrolled in Intermediate or Advanced Ballet in addition to two other Intermediate or Advanced classes.
The first step toward becoming a DIVA is to take the DIVA Training Session, which is offered every other spring. This course will provide students with a deeper understanding of what the DIVA program is all about. They will receive training in technical vocabulary, classroom management, instructional techniques and leadership skills. Upon successful completion of this course, students are eligible to be selected as a DIVA.
The next DIVA Training Session will be held Monday, April 13, 2020.
Students selected for the DIVA program will be assigned a training class for the dance year. This exposes them to the practical aspects of dance instruction and allows them to put their theoretical training into action as they assist the instructor with classroom activities. To maintain the integrity of this training experience training classes are limited. Therefore, DIVA classroom placement is entirely dependent upon available training classes.
