Beginner classes and sessions are all about exploration and discovery. Students use this time to find their own path toward self-expression.
The Beginner utilize dance and tumbling technique to encourage the development of strength and precision in movement as dancers continue to discover the potential of the body. Beginner classes include instruction in tap, ballet, tumbling, and creative movement and and meet once a week for 60 minutes. The goal of these classes is to improve coordination while developing a concept of proper body alignment as dancers are taught to identify correct and incorrect movements. They are also challenged to memorize combinations and learn dance and tumbling terminology in a fun and supportive environment.
Beginner Hip Hop is an exciting, high-energy class that introduces students to the funky movements and percussive style of Hip Hop and Pop dance while encouraging creativity and independence through freestyle movement.
Beginner Tumbling is a progressive, skill-based class that allows students to strengthen their bodies and improve coordination and flexibility while mastering tumbling skills such as cartwheels, hand stands, limbers, walkovers, handsprings, and more. Skill progression is determined individually based on ability.
Lyrical dance uses a combination of both jazz and ballet to create movement that conveys emotion and tells a story. This class trains dancers to use their technical skills to connect movement with meaning.
No girls allowed! This six-week tumbling session or year-long class is for energetic boys who want to learn how to flip and tumble in a safe environment. Students will explore their physical limits while gaining strength, improving coordination, and increasing flexibility. Boys can opt to take tumbling as a year-long class and perform in the spring recital, or as a six-week session anytime during the year.
